Whenever I wanted to spend it all on candy, she’d say, “Save a little, you’ll need it someday.” Slowly, I started to understand. One day, I opened the box to buy something that I really wanted, and there it was, all my savings, neatly counted. That moment stuck with me. It wasn’t just about the money. It was about learning to wait, to plan. Looking back, I didn’t just save money, I learned value. And now I save my money on my own in the bank by opening an account.

When I was little, I thought banks were just big buildings with vaults. But soon I realized, my first real bank had no walls—just warm arms, a soft voice, and the kindest heart. It was my mommy.
On my 3rd birthday, she gave me a little blue piggy bank and said, “This isn’t a toy, Shai. Every coin you save is a piece of your future.” I didn’t understand then, but I did later.
Whenever I asked for toys or candy, she’d smile and say, “Save now, and you’ll get something amazing later.”
She also taught me saving wasn’t just about money. If we had leftovers, she’d turn them into the next day’s lunch. “Saving resources is saving money,” she’d say.
One day, I used all my savings to buy her a simple dress. It wasn’t much, but it was everything I had.
I still save, waiting to buy my mother something big.
To the world, she’s my mom. To me, she’s my first bank—full of love and wisdom.

My mother, is my world. She is the most strongest woman in my life. All the asset I have in my life is because of the lesson my mother taught me. From my childhood she taught me about savings. Everyday I used to save 10 tk from my tiffin money and keep that in my piggy bank. This lesson I am still following in my life but now I save taka in DPS instead of piggy bank.

When I was younger, I thought money was something that magically came from my mother’s purse. I would often ask for toys or snacks without thinking twice. One day, I wanted an expensive toy, and instead of buying it, my mother smiled and gave me a task: help her in the garden for a week. I worked hard, pulling weeds and watering plants. At the end, she gave me a small amount of money and said, “This is what effort feels like.”
She then took me to the market and showed me how to compare prices and choose wisely. I realized that money wasn’t just for spending—it came from hard work and needed thoughtful use. From that day, I became more careful and grateful. Through simple actions, my mother taught me a lifelong lesson: money has value only when we understand the effort behind it.

আমি একদিন অনলাইনে আমার প্রয়োজনীয় একটি জিনিস অর্ডার করেছিলাম।এখন ঐ পার্সেল টা নিয়ে আসছে কিন্তু আমার বাবা বাড়িতে নেই আমি আম্মুকে বললাম টাকা দিতে আম্মু বললো আমার কাছে তো এখন টাকা নেই। তখন ঐ পার্সেল এর লোকটা বার বার ফোন দিচ্ছিল আমার কাছে খুবই খারাপ লাগছিল।
আমি আসলে তখন বুঝতে পারলাম টাকা যে কত প্রয়োজনীয় এর আগে কখনও এটা অনুভব করিনি। এমন সময় আমার আম্মু এত বড় একটা মাটির ব্যাংক নিয়ে এসে আমার সামনে ভেঙে বললো এই নে এই সব টাকাই তোর আমি তো অবাক। আমি বললাম আমার মানে? আম্মু বললো ছোটকালের তোর সব সালামি এখানে,আমার তো মনেই নেই। আম্মু বললো এই সব টাকাই তোর, এখন ইচ্ছেমতো খরচ কর। তখন আম্মুকে আমি জড়িয়ে ধরে বললাম ধন্যবাদ আম্মু তুমিই তো আমার বড় ব্যাংক।আর তখন আমি চিন্তা করলাম আসলে হিসেব করে সবসময় চলা ভালো। তখন আমি এই টাকাগুলো আবার আম্মুর কাছে রেখে দেই আর বলি তুমিই সময়মতো খরচ করো। নিশ্চয়ই আম্মু আমার ভালো কাজের জন্যই খরচ করবে।আম্মুই আমার সবচেয়ে বড় ও দামি ব্যাংক।আর তখন থেকেই আমি আসলে টাকার মূল্য টা বুঝতে শিখি এবং টাকা সেভ করাটা কত প্রয়োজন সেটাও বুঝি।

আমাদের ছোট্ট বাসায় মায়ের একটাই শখ ছিল মাটির ব্যাংক জমানো। প্রতি বছর গ্রামের মেলায় গেলে মা নতুন একটা মাটির ব্যাংক কিনে আনতেন। আমি রাগ করতাম, বলতাম, মা, টাকা দিয়ে এসব কিভাবে কিনো?" মা মিষ্টি হেসে বলতেন, টাকাটা জমিয়ে রাখার জায়গা দরকার তো!
একদিন বাবার ব্যবসায় বড় ক্ষতি হলো। সংসারের খরচ চালানোই কঠিন হয়ে গেল। আমি দেখতাম, মা রাতে পেছনের ঘরে ঢুকে কিছু একটা করেন। একদিন চুপিচুপি দেখে ফেললাম মা মাটির ব্যাংকগুলো একে একে ভেঙে টাকা বের করছেন। ব্যাংকগুলোয় ছিল নোট, কয়েন আর মায়ের অমূল্য সঞ্চয়।
মা সেই টাকাগুলো বাবার হাতে দিয়ে বললেন, এই টাকাগুলো জমিয়েছিলাম তোমাদের জন্য। এখন দরকার, তাই কাজে লাগাও। বাবার চোখে পানি আর মায়ের মুখে স্বস্তির হাসি সেই দৃশ্য যেন হৃদয়ে গেঁথে রইল।
আজ যখন নিজে উপার্জন করি, একটা মাটির ব্যাংক আমার টেবিলেও থাকে। মায়ের সেই শিক্ষা টুকটাক জমাতে শিখো, বড় বিপদে সেটা রক্ষা করবে আমার জীবনটাকে নিরাপত্তায় মুড়িয়ে রেখেছে।
তোমার সেই মাটির ব্যাংকের গল্প আমাকে প্রতিদিন শিখিয়ে দেয় ভালোবাসার সঞ্চয় কাকে বলে।

আমাদের ছোট্ট সংসারে টাকা পয়সার টানাটানি ছিল নিত্যদিনের সঙ্গী। বাবা প্রায়ই বলতেন, এই মাসটাও টানতে পারব তো? মা তখন মিষ্টি হেসে বলতেন, ভগবান ভরসা, সব ঠিক হয়ে যাবে। আমি বুঝতাম না, কীভাবে মা সবকিছু সামলে নিতেন।
একদিন স্কুল থেকে ফিরে দেখি, মা এক পুরনো শাড়ি কেটে রঙিন থলে বানাচ্ছেন। জিজ্ঞেস করায় বললেন, তোমার টিফিনের টাকা জমিয়ে রাখার জন্য। ছোট্ট সেই থলেতে মা প্রতিদিন কিছু টাকা রেখে দিতেন, বলতেন, যদি কোনোদিন দরকার হয়।
বছরখানেক পর বাবার হঠাৎ অসুস্থতায় বাড়তি টাকার দরকার পড়ল। মা তখন আলমারি থেকে বের করলেন সেই ছোট্ট থলেটা ভর্তি টাকার নোট! বাবা অবাক হয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, এত টাকা কোথা থেকে? মা হাসিমুখে বললেন, টুকটাক জমিয়েছিলাম।
আজ যখন আমি জীবনের ঝড়ঝাপটা সামলাই, মায়ের সেই থলে আর তাঁর মুখের সেই নিশ্চিন্ত হাসি মনে পড়ে। মা শিখিয়েছিলেন, সঞ্চয় শুধু টাকা জমানো নয়, বরং নিরাপত্তা আর ভালোবাসার এক নির্ভরতার গল্প। তোমার ভালোবাসার সেই থলে আজও আমার মনে সঞ্চয়ের পাঠ শিখিয়ে দেয়।

আমি তখন ক্লাশ ফোরের স্টুডেন্ট মা একদিন মাটির ব্যাংক এনে দেন বলেন তোর বাবা তোর জন্মের ১ বছর পরেই বিদেশে গেছে ৫ বছর পর দেশে আসবে তাই আমাদের হিসাব করে চলতে হবে। তোর বাবা আমাদের সংসারে যা প্রয়োজন তা প্রতি মাসে দিবেন। কিন্তু তোর বাবার বেতন তেমন না। সময় লাগবে ভালো একটা রোজগার করতে। তাই তোকে সঞ্চয় করা শিখতে হবে। আর সেদিন আমি সঞ্চয় করা শুরু করি ১ টাকা ২ টাকা যা পেতাম তাই সঞ্জয় করতাম থেকেই।আমি মনে মনে চিন্তা করি বাবা যেদিন আসবে সেদিন এই মাটির ব্যাংকটা আমি ভাঙবো। আর সেই মহেন্দ্রক্ষণ চলে আসে বাবা বিদেশ থেকে চলে আসে আমার কাছে। আর সেদিন মাটির ব্যাংক ভেঙেছিলাম পেয়েছিলাম প্রায় বিশ হাজার টাকার মতো।বাবা অবাক হয়ে যায় বলে এতো ছোট থেকে তুমি সঞ্চয় করা শিখেছো আমি বলি এটার ক্রেডিট আমার মা..... ♥️

My name is Hur and I am in nursery. My mama plays many fun games with me. One of my favorite games is the Coin Box Game.
Mama gave me a small plastic box and said, “This is your magic box. Every time you get a coin, put it in here. When the box is full, we will open it together.”
I was so excited! The first coin I got was from Mama when I helped her fold clothes. She said, “Good job, Hur!” and gave me a shiny coin. I put it in my box and shook it—jingle jingle—it made a funny sound!
Day by day, I did small good things—cleaning my toys, saying nice words, sharing with my brother. Mama gave me a coin for each. I loved saving them in my magic box.
One sunny day, my box was full! Mama and I sat on the floor, opened it, and counted all the coins. I was smiling the whole time!
We went to the store, and I chose a small doll with a pink dress. Mama said, “You saved for this all by yourself. I’m so proud!”
Now, saving coins is my favorite game. Thank you, Mama, for teaching me!

I always dreamed of having my own gaming setup but never had the courage to ask my parents. I knew they’d say, “Grow up and buy it yourself.” As a kid, saving money felt impossible since I didn’t get much Eid salami. That changed when my mom gave me a clay piggy bank and later handed me 1000 taka—the most money I’d ever held. I wanted to spend it all, but she said, “Spend it wisely.” That stuck with me. I began saving every bit of money I got. In Class 5, I received 1000 taka weekly for lunch. Instead of spending it all, I saved a portion, thanks to my mom. She even sent me grocery shopping to teach me how to spend smartly. Because of her, I’ve bought many gaming peripherals and am still saving for my dream setup—and a future business. My mom didn’t just teach me about money, but also patience, responsibility, and how to work toward goals. Her lessons are shaping who I’m becoming.

টাকার গুরুত্ব সত্যি সত্যিই আমি বুঝিনি কখনো আর বোঝার চেষ্টাও করতাম না । মা টাকা দিলেই খরচ করে ফেলতাম।একবার ঈদের সময় আমার প্রায় ৮০০০+ টাকা সালামি পাই আর তখন অপ্রয়োজনীয় ভাবে নিজের জন্য জামা কিনি আর পরের সপ্তাহে রাতে হঠাৎ করেই দাদু অসুস্থ হয়ে যায় আম্মু ও আমি বাসায় আব্বু ঢাকায়, কল দিয়ে বাবাকে পাইনি ওদিকে হাসপাতালে নেওয়া জরুরি হয়ে যায় এদিকে হাতে টাকা নেই 😭 কোন রকম ৫০০০ টাকা মেনেজ করে দাদুকে নিয়ে যাই আর দাদু এবারের মত ভালো হয়।তখন নিজে নিজে টাকার গুরুত্ব বুঝি এবং আম্মা বলল যে টাকা কি আর টাকার গুরুত্ব কতটুকু। আজ আমার টাকাটা হাতে থাকলে কোথাও সময় নষ্ট করতে হতোনা।
সে থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত আমি টাকা হিসাব করে খরচ করি এবং জমাই।

আমার আম্মা, প্রথম আমাকে মাটির ব্যাংক কিনে দিয়েছিলেন। আর কাঁঠালের সেই ব্যাংকে পয়সা ফেলে টাকা জমানো শুরু করেছিলাম। আমার আম্মাই আমাকে অর্থের মূল্য শিখিয়েছিলেন। যা আামার কাছে এক অমূল্য স্মৃতি।

আমি ছোট থাকতে একদিন একটা দামি পুতুলের খেলনা চেয়েছিলাম,ক্লাস ৪ এ পড়ি তখন। মা তখন না বলে দেননি। বরং বলেছিলেন, “তুমি যদি এটা চাও, তাহলে একটু কাজ করতে হবে।”
তারপর আমি ঘর পরিষ্কার করা, নিজের জিনিসপত্র গুছিয়ে রাখা এমন ছোট ছোট কাজ করতে থাকি। মা প্রতিদিন অল্প করে টাকা রাখতেন একটা ছোট বাক্সে। কয়েক সপ্তাহ পরে সেই টাকা জমে গেল, আর আমি নিজের হাতে খেলনাটা কিনে ফেলি।
এইভাবে মা আমাকে বুঝিয়েছিলেন টাকা খুব সহজে আসে না। কাজ করলে তবেই পাওয়া যায়। আর টাকা জমিয়ে রাখলে পরে দরকারে অনেক উপকারে আসে। এই কথাগুলো এখনো মনে পড়ে, আর এখন জীবনে কাজে লাগে,সেই ছোট একটা শিক্ষা আমাকে অনেক কিছুতে হেল্প করছে এখন।
